Baldwin City Community Theatre is a nonprofit organization committed to creating and supporting activities through the performing arts that foster community fellowship. The Community Theatre is looking for volunteers to assist with their summer production, “The Phantom Tollbooth,” which runs June 18 through 28. • The City of Lawrence is looking for volunteers to assist with the Lawrence Earth Day Celebration on Saturday. Volunteers are needed for event setup, which includes setting up tables, chairs and recycling bins, and helping exhibitors carry their displays to their tables. Setup tasks begin at 7:30 a.m. by the Gazebo at South Park, 11th and Massachusetts streets. Volunteers are also needed for event break down at 4 p.m. Break-down tasks include helping exhibitors carry their displays to their vehicles and breaking down tables and chairs. • Pioneer Ridge Assisted Living Center is an apartment community for senior citizens seeking assisted living arrangements. Pioneer Ridge needs assistance producing an exercise video to be used by residents. A volunteer with video equipment and editing software is needed to video one or two of the regular exercise sessions held at the facility. • The United Way and the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force need volunteers to be a part of the Earth Day Parade and booth Saturday. • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Douglas County provides one-to-one relationships for children facing adversity. Are you looking to make a difference in the life of a young boy in our community? For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a “Little” the invaluable gift of your friendship. Are you a well-rounded family that enjoys sports, art, video games and books? If so, a sweet and smart 8-year-old boy is excited to be matched with you. He will be shy when you first meet him, but will warm up after you spend time with him.
