Lawrence woman named Mrs. Kansas United States

Lawrencian and University of Kansas alumna Kristie Bowen was crowned Mrs. Kansas United States April 6 in St. Joseph, Mo.

Bowen competed for the crown alongside nine other married Kansas women. The pageant is a preliminary to the Mrs. United States Pageant, which will take place in Las Vegas this July. The pageant was founded in 1986 to honor married women of beauty and intelligence.

Bowen, who was previously Mrs. Jayhawk Nation, is married to Clint Bowen, linebackers coach for the Kansas University football team.
