Olathe ? Free State’s Cierra Campbell placed second in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races to lead the Firebirds’ swimming and diving team to a third-place finish at the Olathe Invitational on Friday.

Free State scored 172 points to finish behind Blue Valley Northwest (192) and champion Shawnee Mission East (240). Lawrence High scored 50 points to finish 12th in the 15-team invitational.

Mary Reed-Weston led the Lions by taking fourth place in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 IM.

Joining Campbell with top-three finishes for the Firebirds were Sydney Sirimongkhon-Dyck (second, 50 free) and Eliza Anderson (second, 100 free; third, 100 back). Free State’s 400 free relay team (Anderson, Lucy Sirimongkhon-Dyck, Simone Herlihy, Campbell) placed second, and the FSHS 200 medley relay team (Lucy Sirimongkhon-Dyck, Kara Krannawitter, Campbell, Sydney Sirimongkhon-Dyck) placed third.
