The full name of this dish is “Chicken Fried Filet of Three Meatloaf.” Translation: Two meatloaf patties made of ground filets of pork, bison and beef are southern-breaded, deep-fried and served over fire-roasted tomato demi-glace and vegetables du jour. The finished plate looks like a meatloaf Taj Mahal, with herb-whipped potatoes for towers and crispy, fried onions for turrets.

Where to get it: Basil Leaf Cafe, 616 W. Ninth St. (This item is on the sit-down menu, served at dinnertime only.)

What you’ll pay: $18

Try it with: A Copperhead Pale Ale or some chardonnay. More food or sauce probably wouldn't add anything to this filling, already generously-adorned plate.

Also on the menu: Spaghetti, lasagna and other pastas; southern-tinged dishes such as cornbread crab cakes and smoked buttermilk frog legs and catfish; plus soups, salads and a handful of housemade desserts. The lunch and to-go menus are smaller, a little cheaper and also have sandwiches.
