FSHS baseball falls at SMNW

? Free State High’s baseball team collected nine hits but managed just one run in a 5-1 loss to Shawnee Mission Northwest on Tuesday.

The Firebirds scored in the fourth inning off a Casey Hearnen single.

“It was the inability to string things together,” Free State coach Mike Hill said. “We struck out 11 times. We got too many empty outs. We’ve got to have a better approach with two strikes.”

The Firebirds (3-3) will host Shawnee Mission West on Thursday.
