Topeka ? Free State High’s volleyball team went 2-2 on Saturday at the Topeka Seaman Invitational.

The Firebirds defeated Kansas City Sumner, 25-7, 25-8; lost to Manhattan, 15-25, 17-25; defeated Colby, 25-18, 25-9; and lost to Topeka Hayden, 12-25, 20-25.

“I think we’re getting better each time we play,” FSHS coach Nancy Hopkins said, “and we’re playing good competition. So that’s only going to make us better.”

The Firebirds (8-11) will play at home on Thursday.
