Wamego ? Lawrence High’s Abby Schmidtberger tied for second at the Washburn Rural golf invitational on Thursday at Wamego Country Club.

Schmidtberger shot 42-42–84 to tie Rural’s Sam Mitchell for second. Manhattan’s Kyle McCarthy won with an 80.

The Lions’ other placings: Campbell Drake 24th, 100; Gracie Reinsch, 52nd, 125; Maddie Goscha, 55th, 136; Bonnie Reinsch, 56th, 140; and Alyssa Karasek, 57th, 141.

Rural won the team title with 358 strokes. LHS was ninth with 445.
