Summer bike ride: Lawrence Bicycle Club Summer Fun Beginner’s Ride will be held Mondays. The ride begins at 6:45 p.m. at Cycle Works, 2121 Kasold, preceded at 6:15 by tech and riding tips. The ride will be approximately 10 miles (the first few rides will be seven miles) at 10 mph, mostly on the bike path. All are welcome; kids under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and all children under 18 must have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian. Sandrat Trail Run: The 21st annual Sandrat Trail Run will be held at 8:30 a.m., Oct. 6. It will be approximately 9.5 miles along the Kansas River, on the river trails. The start/finish is near John Taylor Park, near North Seventh Street & Elm in North Lawrence. There will also be a 1K (.6 mile) fun run for the “Rug Rats” following the trail run. Jayhawk Model Masters: A “Free Air Show” will be provided on Sept. 28 by the Jayhawk Model Masters. The “Big Bird” event will be at the model airfield below Clinton Dam. The R/C Air Show of Large model aircraft will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a 140-inch model of a Beech 18 aircraft and an 80-inch Jet Turbine powered aircraft.
