Overland Park ? Free State’s Emily Bermel placed fourth and Lawrence High’s Abigail Schmidtberger tied for eighth at the weather-altered Shawnee Mission South golf tournament on Thursday at Deer Creek Golf Club.

FSHS placed seventh as a team and LHS eighth.

A storm prevented the teams from completing the 18 holes, so scores were calculated by taking over-par scores for the first nine holes played by all players. Ties were broken by matching the lowest handicap holes the players involved played.

By that scoring, Bermel finished with a 5 and Schmidtberger a 9.

Washburn Rural won the team title with 21. Free State had 75 and LHS 77.
