FSHS volleyball splits matches

? Free State High’s volleyball team split a pair of matches Tuesday night, defeating Emporia, 25-11, 20-25, 25-16, and falling to Topeka Seaman, 27-25, 19-25, 25-21.

Free State coach Nancy Hopkins cited the play of Paige Corcoron and Grace Miller.

“(The Firebirds were) sluggish in the first match,” Hopkins said. “The second match they played very well. They competed. We had lost to Seaman earlier in the season. They came back and played really well today.”

FSHS (4-7) will play Thursday at Lawrence High in a triangular that also includes Olathe Northwest.
