LHS tennis third at Emporia event

? Lawrence High’s girls tennis team placed third among five schools Saturday at the Emporia Tournament.

The Lions’ Kendall Pritchard went 3-1 for second place in No. 2 singles, and the LHS No. 2 doubles team of Caroline Bologa and Natalie Cote went 3-1 for second place.

Brooke Braman and Zoe Schneider were 2-2 for third place in No. 1 doubles.

“I was very pleased with our No 2s,” Lions coach Chris Marshall said. “Kendall lost to a good player and was able to come back. She was battling a sore back and was able to play through the pain. We were very competitive throughout the day. It was nice to see that.”

Blue Valley Northwest and Emporia each finished with 11 points, followed by Lawrence with eight, Topeka High with seven and Maize with three.

Washburn Rural, Topeka High and Topeka West will join the Lions for a quadrangular Monday at the LHS courts.
