Firebirds win J.C. tennis quad
Junction City ? Free State High went 10-2 and placed first at the Junction City tennis quadrangular on Thursday.
Free State’s Alexis Czapinski went 3-0 at No. 1 singles, and the FSHS team of Alyssa Raye and Rachel Walters went 3-0 at No. 2 doubles.
The Firebirds beat, in order, Manhattan, Salina South and Junction City in the team standings.
“A great start to the season,” Free State coach Oather Strawderman said. “Going 10-2 as a team and finishing first is a great beginning. We definitely have some things to work on, but the new doubles combinations look promising.”
