No injuries reported in Lawrence school bus accident

No injures were reported in a school bus accident near West Second Street and McDonald Drive this afternoon, according to police.

The accident involved a bus carrying children from West Middle School, according to school district officials. The bus collided with another vehicle while turning left from McDonald Drive onto West Princeton Boulevard shortly before 4 p.m., said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman. The bus belonged to the First Student, Inc., school bus company, and was taking students to homes off Peterson Road, said Julie Boyle, a Lawrence school district spokeswoman.

No one appeared to have been injured in the accident, and another bus was sent to continue taking the students home.

The vehicle that collided with the bus was towed from the scene, McKinley said, but no one in that vehicle appeared to have been injured, either. Police have not yet publicly identified the drivers of either vehicle.
