KU volleyball defeats Arizona, Morgan St.

? The Kansas University volleyball team defeated Arizona, 3-1, on Saturday night at the Arizona Invitational.

The Jayhawks (2-1) lost their first set against the Wildcats, 27-25, but went on to win the next three, 25-15, 25-23, 25-20.

The victory, which followed an afternoon win against Morgan State (25-13, 25-23, 25-18), was KU coach Ray Bechard’s 250th at Kansas.

KU junior outside hitters Chelsea Albers and Sarah McClinton were named to the All-Tournament Team.

McClinton, an All-Big 12 first-team returnee, totaled 16 kills against Morgan State and 18 against Arizona.

Albers, who had eight kills on Saturday afternoon, doubled her total against the Wildcats and finished with 16 to go along with 18 digs.

The Jayhawks will play UMKC on Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo., before beginning a home-and-home series with Arkansas. KU will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. on Thursday before hosting the Razorbacks in Lawrence on Saturday, Sept. 7. KU’s home opener is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Horejsi Center.
