Young male flown to KU Hospital for traumatic injuries
A young male was taken by LifeStar helicopter to Kansas University Hospital Thursday.
Responders were called to the 1700 block of Whitmore Court at 3:23 p.m. for a medical emergency, according to Kim Murphree, a Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman. Nothing criminal was involved in the incident, she said.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Division Chief Joe Hoelscher said the young man suffered “traumatic injuries” but could not say what caused them. He said the helicopter landed near Prairie Park school’s playground when there were no children outside.
