Fundraiser for Dain Dillingham to accompany ‘Pass the Light’ screening

The filmmakers behind the independent movie “Pass the Light,” will hold a fundraiser for Lawrence native Dain Dillingham, who suffered a C5 vertebra fracture in August, at their 7 p.m. Sunday screening at Liberty Hall.

The screening is an encore presentation of “Pass the Light.” Keith Loneker, an actor starring in the film, said attendees will be able to drop off monetary donations at the screening.

Family and friends of Dillingham, who does not have health insurance, have been collecting donations for his treatment since he fell from a rooftop in Washington state, where he now lives.

Dillingham’s mother, Sarah Jane Russell, set up a fundraising page for her son at YouCaring.com. With a goal of $100,000, it had collected over $54,000 as of Tuesday.

A benefit was also organized at a Free State High School football game in September.

“He’s such a positive guy,” Loneker said. “He makes himself somebody who’s really easy to rally around.”
