Olathe ? Lawrence High sophomore Nathan Pederson placed 18th at a 6A regional cross country meet Saturday and qualified for state.

The LHS boys and girls teams both placed seventh, and Pederson was Lions’ lone state qualifier.

Pederson ran a time of 17:01.28. Next for the Lions was senior Sean Bowen, 28th in 17:25.81.

Senior Laura Neilsen led the LHS girls, taking 18th in 16:20.83, followed by junior Riley Shook in 17:52.52.
