Off the Beaten Plate: Dagwood’s Dream at Yello Sub

Dagwood's Dream sandwich at Yello Sub, 1814 W. 23rd St.

Named after “Blondie” comic strip character Dagwood Bumstead, who dreamt of a multilayered sandwich stacked with a variety of obscure meats, cheese and condiments, the “Dagwood’s Dream” at Yello Sub will satisfy multiple cravings at once. Not quite the piled-high illustration, this toasted 6-inch whole wheat bun (baked from scratch every morning) is loaded with pastrami, roast beef, ham, Monterey Jack, onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a creamy horseradish sauce. Feel free to make it even dreamier with extra cheese, meat, veggies or guacamole for an additional charge. Make Dagwood proud.
