Buchanan paces Kansas runners

? Junior Reid Buchanan placed 37th to pace the Kansas University men, and sophomore Hannah Richardson led the women with her 36th-place finish Saturday at the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational on Saturday.

“We had some individuals run well but I feel we’re a lot better than where we ran today,” assistant cross country coach Michael Whittlesey said. “There were definitely some positives to take away, but we need to get our packs back running together and improve on the tactical aspects of the race.”

Buchanan finished the 8K race in 24:05.84. Teammate Evan Landes was 50th in 24:12.66 and Josh Munsch 64th in 24:20.26.

As a team, the KU men placed 14th in the 52-team field.

On the women’s side, Richardson finished the 6K run in 20:52.25.

Natalie Becker was 132nd for KU in 21:41.57.

KU’s women were 36th in the team standings.

Kansas will travel Saturday to Waco, Texas, for the Big 12 Championships.
