The Class 6A girls tennis state tournament was postponed Friday when rain, sleet and even a few snow flakes fell at Maize South High.

The two-day event will now start Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Free State senior Alexis Czapinski will receive a bye in the 24-player singles tournament, because she won a regional championship last weekend.

The Firebirds’ doubles teams — Alyssa Raye and Rachel Walters, and Caitlin Dodd and Taylor Hawkins — will both play in the opening round.
