Percolator hosting Dia de los Muertos workshops

The Percolator is hosting altar-making workshops for El Dia de los Muertos, a day originating in Mexico to remember and celebrate those who have died.

Bring in photos, trinkets and food items to honor loved ones (pets included) who have passed away by creating an altar for them. Supplies will be provided. The workshop will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Percolator Artspace. The finished altars will be displayed at the Artspace, 913 Rhode Island St., for El Dia de los Muertos celebrations.

The Percolator will also host a celebration Oct. 25., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., for Final Fridays, where anyone can decorate an altar, leave offerings for those who have died and share food and conversation with event attendees.

The final celebration will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 2 with a potluck and more offerings for the altars. Guests can paint their faces, and join in an annual Percolator ritual of a parade.
