Mark Weinhold completed nine of 14 passes for 208 yards and four touchdowns, and Veritas Christian defeated Kansas City East Christian, 40-14, in high school football Friday night at Veritas’ field.

Thatcher Martin caught three of Weinhold’s scoring passes, of 21, 21 and 27 yards, and had seven receptions for 168 yards.

Seth Hale also scored twice, on a 3-yard run and a 15-yard pass from Weinhold. And Weinhold scored on a 1-yard run.

Hale gained 69 yards on 18 carries and had 40 yards receiving.

“I thought we played really well in the passing game,” Veritas coach Blake Mudd said. “Our defense played phenomenal. We continue to get better each and every day. I’m proud of our effort and our toughness.”

Veritas (3-3) will play host to Topeka Cair Paravel on Friday.
