Bengali arts, culture coming to KU for fall festival

The Bengali Community of Lawrence is promising a fusion of culture, arts and fun at its annual fall festival — the Midwest Sarbojonin Durga Puja — this weekend.

A display of Durga idols, cultural programs, a community dinner and “Bollywood Legends: 50 Years of Melody,” featuring singer and performer Samir Date, are planned Friday through Sunday at the Kansas Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd. Find more event details and ticket information online at msdp2013.org.

For the past 18 years, the Kansas City community has been celebrating by having a community get-together to worship Goddess Durga. Every third year, the festival takes place in Lawrence.
