Leavenworth ? Free State’s volleyball team went split a pair of matches Tuesday night. The Firebirds defeated Shawnee Mission West, 28-26, 25-19, and lost to Leavenworth, 25-22, 29-13, 25-16.

Free State coach Nancy Hopkins cited the play of Paige Corcoran and Lauren Johnson.

The Firebirds (9-14) will host a triangular next Tuesday.
