Overland Park ? Two city golfers earned spots on the Sunflower League first team with identical scores on Wednesday at the Olathe East Invitational.

Free State High junior Emily Bermel shot an 82 at the tournament, which served as the last leg of the Sunflower League championship, and finished third in the league standings with a three-round score of 251. Lawrence High senior Abby Schmidtberger also carded a final-round 82 to finish sixth in the league with a total of 256. Olathe Northwest’s Audrey Judd was league champion with 218.

Free State took fourth place in the Sunflower League team standings with a three-round 1181. Lawrence High placed sixth out of eight teams with 1213. League champion Shawnee Mission East totalled 1059.

LHS senior Campbell Drake (13th place, 281) and FSHS junior Karen Campbell (15th, 288) earned honorable mention league honors. Campbell shot 92 and tied for 11th in Wednesday’s tourney, and Drake shot 93 for 13th. Bermel placed fourth and Schmidtberger fifth after scorecard tiebreakers.
