Ongoing drug investigation nets Monday arrest of Lawrence man

A 23-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Monday on suspicion of multiple drug offenses and criminal firearm possession as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Hunter Radcliffe Wheeler was booked into Douglas County Jail Monday afternoon after members of the Douglas County Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant in the 700 block of Arkansas Street around 1:30 p.m., said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman.

Wheeler was taken into custody and booked into jail on three felony counts of unlawful manufacture, distribution, cultivation or possession of controlled substances using a communication facility; three felony counts of unlawful cultivation or distribution of controlled substances; three felony counts of unlawful distribution of drug precursors and drug paraphernalia; one felony count of possessing a controlled substance and one felony count of criminal possession of a firearm “by a person who is both addicted to and an unlawful user of a controlled substance.”

Wheeler was in jail Tuesday with bond set at $100,500.
