Veritas football upends St. John’s

— Chad Stieben score on runs of 40 and 7 yards, and Veritas Christian School defeated St. John’s Military, 16-8, on Friday night in high school football.

Stieben gained 160 yards on 34 carries for the Eagles, who led 8-0 after one quarter and 16-0 after three.

“I thought our defense played really well,” Veritas coach Blake Mudd said. “We challenged our offensive line at halftime, and I thought they came out and played exceptionally well in the second half.”

Defensive standouts for Veritas included Thatcher Martin and Seth Hale, with five solo tackles apiece, and Jesse Moore, with four solo tackles.

Veritas (2-3) will play Kansas City East Christian School on Friday at Veritas’ field.
