Six Tonganoxie players scored touchdowns in a rout of KC Ward Friday.

THS (4-1, 3-1 Kaw Valley League) amassed 483 yards of offense — 328 on the ground — while holding the Cyclones (0-5, 0-4) to just 164.

Touchdown runs by Tyler Ford and Shane Levy started the Chieftains’ scoring with two touchdowns in the first quarter. Then Cole Holloway took an option pitch up the sideline for a 56-yard touchdown.

Holloway added another score with 4:21 left in the second quarter, and Ford found Maleak Gibson, who made an over-the-shoulder touchdown catch from 34 yards out on the team’s next possession.

In the second half, Holloway scored his third touchdown of the night with 8:09 left in the third quarter. Jared Sommers added a seven-yard score with 4:20 left in the period, and a running clock went into effect.

Jordan Boudreaux capped off scoring with a 12-yard touchdown run — his first score of the season — with 3:25 left in the fourth quarter.

The THS defense limited the Cyclones to just 20 yards in the second half.

Holloway finished with a game-high 158 yards on 14 carries. Ford threw for 129 yards on 6-of-11 passing.

The Chieftains host KC Turner next week for homecoming at Beatty Field.

McLouth-Pleasant Ridge, suspended

Pieasant Ridge — McLouth and Pleasant Ridge played to a 6-all tie in the second quarter before severe weather forced suspension until 3:30 p.m. today.

Baldwin-De Soto, ppd.

Baldwin City — Baldwin High School’s home football game against De Soto was called because of an advancing severe thunderstorm.

The decision to call the game came after a 90-minute delay at the start of the contest because of lightning visible to the west.

Because of Baker University’s homecoming football game this afternoon and a soccer match in the evening at Liston Stadium, where Baldwin High plays its home football games, the game will be played at 6 p.m. today at Free State High.
