Topeka The Kansas Supreme Court has reappointed Douglas County State District Court Judge Robert Fairchild to another two-year term as chief judge of the Seventh Judicial District, which is all of Douglas County.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as Chief Judge of the Seventh Judicial District. I am fortunate to have great colleagues on the bench and an excellent court administrator, administrative assistant, and court personnel to work with," Fairchild said.
Fairchild, a native of Prairie Village, is a graduate of Texas Tech University and Kansas University School of Law. He practiced law in Lawrence for 23 years before his appointment as district judge in 1996. He has served as chief judge since 2002.
Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Lawton Nuss said he was pleased to announce Fairchild's reappointment. "The Kansas Judicial Branch is facing a number of challenges, particularly the underfunding of the courts. We will rely on Chief Judge Fairchild’s assistance in facing them," Nuss said.
