Two Lawrence men in jail facing charges of indecent liberties with 15-year-old

Two Lawrence men are being held in Douglas County Jail facing multiple charges including aggravated indecent liberties with a 15-year-old. One man faces an additional charge of prostitution.

A man, 34, and another, 27, were booked into the jail on Monday on suspicion of committing multiple offenses between December 2012 and Jan. 14 of this year.

The Journal-World generally does not name suspects in sex crimes unless they are convicted.

The 34-year-old was arrested on one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, a felony. He also faces one count of patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor. If found guilty, he faces up to more than 20 years in prison. The prostitution offense carries a maximum of 30 days in prison and a fine.

The 27-year-old faces one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and one count of indecent liberties with a child, both felonies. He is alleged to have committed both offenses with the same 15-year-old girl as the 34-year-old. If found guilty, he faces up to more than 31 years in prison.

On Tuesday, both men appeared in Douglas County Court via video from Douglas County Jail, where each remained in custody on $25,000 bond. They are forbidden to have contact with witnesses in what is an ongoing investigation.
