Low-income housing program receives monetary award

The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation awarded $110,000 to the Bert Nash Community Health Center and the Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority for their low-income housing collaboration.

The Community Support Services HOME Tenant Based Rental Assistance program provides subsidies for low-income individuals in Douglas County with mental illness. According to a statement from Bert Nash, the program has assisted more than 312 households who had one or more residents diagnosed with a mental illness.

The award is estimated to help an additional 15 to 20 families over two years, the statement said.
