• Kansas University received a 2013 ImpacT Award, which recognizes businesses and organizations in the Kansas City area that have completed projects with efficiency and environmental benefits. KU took home an award in the Environmental Impact category for its electronic document imaging and workflow project. According to a statement, the project, completed in March 2013, will save the university almost 400,000 sheets of paper every year. The ImpacT Award program is presented by the Kansas City Business Journal.

• Scotch Cleaners announced it will give away thousands of clean, warm coats Dec. 5 and 6 as part of its annual Share the Warmth program. The distribution will run from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5. On Dec. 6, coats will be handed out from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be held at the I-70 Business Center, Suite 104, in North Lawrence both days. The giveaway is conducted by the Salvation Army and the coats are free to anyone in need.

• Mark Hess has been named regional vice president of the Council of Residential Specialists. Hess, a real estate with Keller Williams Realty in Lawrence, will be responsible for Region 14, which includes Florida, Louisiana and Bahamas. Hess will be one of the 17 regional vice presidents throughout the country who will serve as a liaison among the CRS chapters.

• Jordan Williams and Tyler Litton, both of Lawrence, recently completed eight-month service terms with Conservation Corps Minnesota, a nonprofit that engages young people in hands-on service managing natural resources and responding to disasters. Williams served on a crew with five other AmeriCorps members in Brainerd, Minn. Litton served on a crew with five other AmeriCorps members in Fergus Falls, Minn.
