Lawrence police cited 24 adults for seatbelt violations, three for driver's license violations and one for no proof of insurance during Monday evening's seatbelt enforcement effort.
Most of the citations were made at Ninth and Tennessee streets because the intersection is among those with the highest rate of motor vehicle collisions, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman.
McKinley said the enforcement, paid for through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, was conducted between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. and that officers noted low levels of traffic.
