40 years ago: Lawrence man to be tried for hit-and-run

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 20, 1973:

  • A trial date had been set for a Lawrence man charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident. The two persons injured in the two-car crash had been dismissed earlier from Lawrence Memorial Hospital after having undergone observation for possible skull fractures. The man had been charged with failing to give information and render aid at the scene of an injury accident, failing to notify authorities of an accident, and failure to obey a traffic signal, all misdemeanors.
  • Planners for the Mid American Regional Council had been instructed to prepare a report on the probable costs of having Douglas County join the group. Council Commission Chair Walter Cragan, Lawrence City Manager Buford Watson, and Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Director Dick McClanathan had attended the regular monthly meeting of MARC this week and had conferred on the question with the council’s chair and co-chair.
