Swedish lock manufacturer Assa Abloy has acquired Amarr Garage Doors, a garage door manufacturer and distributor with sales of $300 million and 1,200 employees, Amarr announced in a statement Thursday.

Amarr, with 77 locations in the United States, has a site in Lawrence, which was recently recognized by the United Way of Douglas County with a Super Star Employer award.

Assa Abloy is a global supplier of intelligent locks and security solutions, operating in over 70 countries.

Amarr CEO Richard Brenner said Thursday evening he expects the sale to have a positive effect on the Lawrence location.

“We expect to continue the growth that we’ve had,” Brenner said. “Assa Abloy’s a great company and we think they are a great fit culturally with us. We share a lot of the same philosophies with them and we know they’ll treat our people very well.”

The sale is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close by the end of the year. The sale price was not disclosed.
