Kansas volleyball on watch list

Kansas University is one of 33 teams on the American Volleyball Coaches Association watch list for first- and second-round hosting.

KU (18-5 overall, 8-2 Big 12) is ranked No. 24 in the AVCA poll.

To be on the watch list, a team must be in the top 25 of the AVCA poll, the Pablo Rankings or the RPI rankings.

Kansas moved to 17th in the latest RPI.

The NCAA Div. I Women’s Volleyball Committee will meet Nov. 29-Dec. 1 to choose the 64-team field. The committee’s top 16 seeds have the option to host first- and second-round matches.

As host in 2012, KU drew 8,029 fans to Allen Fieldhouse for the first and second rounds, the highest attendance number among the 16 host sites in the country.

The Jayhawks will host West Virginia at 6:30 tonight.
