From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Nov. 5, 1988:

• Good weather and “aggressive” work by the R. D. Andersen Construction Co. of Topeka were continuing to aid efforts to complete a major Kansas University construction project. The $13.9 million Science and Technology Library, to be located just south of Hoch Auditorium, was reported on schedule for completion despite a $10,000 fire in January 1988 and the collapse of a trench in October.
• The National Board of Regents of Haskell Indian Junior College was requesting the return of President Gerald Gipp to the school, at least until the Bureau of Indian Affairs had completed its investigation of conflict-of-interest charges against Gipp. Gipp had been temporarily assigned to the BIA’s central office in Washington, D.C., while the BIA concluded its investigation of a grade-changing charge.
• Upcoming events at this weekend were to include a basketball game between KU’s student senate and that of Kansas State University. Later that night, the band Oingo Boingo was to appear at a Student Union Activities concert in Hoch Auditorium.
