A 16-year-old girl from Waverly died after a car accident Sunday afternoon in rural Franklin County, according to a statement from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The statement said a vehicle driven by Ruby Ann Rose Milliken left the road along the 1000 block of Douglas Road and hit a tree. Officers responded to the incident at 3:37 p.m. Milliken was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement.

There were no other occupants in the car.
