Lawrence artists among those selected to show at upcoming Topeka art fair

Four Lawrence artists will be among those showing their work this weekend at the annual Mulvane Mountain-Plains Art Fair in Topeka.

The juried event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 2 on the Washburn University campus. More than 90 artists from 15 states will display paintings, drawings, prints, photography, jewelry, textiles and sculptural work.

Lawrence artists selected to participate are Louise Carroll, jewelry; Jane Flanders, ceramics; D.W. Gates, photography; and Angie Pickman, mixed media. Jurors for this year’s art fair are Jon Keith Swindell, Kansas University professor of art, and Ron Michael, curator of the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg.

Tickets are $6, or free for children 12 and younger. A $1 coupon is available through the Museum’s website, washburn.edu/mulvane. The event also will feature live music, a food court and hands-on art activities for children. Proceeds benefit education programs at Washburn’s Mulvane Art Museum, located at 1700 SW Jewell Ave.
