Salt Lake City ? Kansas University baseball isn’t exactly surging into the postseason.

They Jayhawks’ losing streak hit five on Sunday with a 13-6 setback at Utah with just one regular-season game remaining before the Jayhawks (31-23) open the Big 12 tournament on Wednesday against West Virginia.

Sunday, Utah (19-29) banged 16 hits off four KU pitchers and won handily despite committing five errors.

The teams played to a 2-all tie through the first inning before the Utes pulled away with three in the third, four in the fourth and another run in the fifth.

Wes Benjamin (4-6) took the loss after surrendering seven runs — four earned — off six hits over 31/3 innings.

Dalton Carroll (4-7) won by allowing three runs — none earned — off four hits over 61/3 innings.

Connor McKay was Kansas’ only multiple hitter. He went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI.

Braden Anderson led the Utes. He was 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs, and Tyler Relf was 3-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs.

The series will conclude with a single game at 1 p.m. today at Spring Mobile Stadium.
