Courthouse wrap-up: Prison sentence in New Year’s Day shooting; 30 days in jail for Lawrence woman who drove car into house

• A 19-year-old Lawrence woman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years of probation after being convicted of driving a car into a Lawrence house in November. Megan Victoria Wilson was sentenced on May 10 in Douglas County District Court after being found guilty of criminal damage and criminal threat, and could serve one year in prison if she violates the terms of her probation, according to the state sentencing guidelines.

• A 23-year-old man accused of shooting a firearm into an occupied vehicle early New Year’s Day near the intersection of Ninth and Iowa streets has been sentenced to 18 months in prison. Willie D. Fleming was sentenced on May 9 in Douglas County District Court after pleading no-contest last month to one count of criminal possession of a firearm, while one count of criminal discharge of a firearm was dismissed.

• A 25-year-old Lawrence man has been sentenced to one year of probation after being convicted of theft in connection with some items stolen in February from a home in the 1300 block of Vermont Street. Michael Tyrone Hill was sentenced on May 9 in Douglas County District Court after pleading guilty to two counts of theft last month, and received a one-year jail sentence for each count. The two sentences will be suspended for the period of probation and run concurrently.
