Topeka ? Maddie Dieker scored a goal midway through the second half, and Free State High’s girls soccer team defeated Topeka Hayden, 1-0, on Thursday.

Goaltender Annie Hierl recorded the shutout for the Firebirds.

“I think we played really well,” FSHS coach Kelly Barah said. “We couldn’t find a way to finish, but we played really well.”

Free State (9-6) will play next week in regionals.
