Lawrence High senior football player Brad Strauss was one of 12 Kansas seniors to receive the National Football Foundation Sunflower Chapter’s scholar athlete award Wednesday at Manhattan.

Award-winners were acknowledged for their success in the classroom and on the field, as well as contributions to their communities.

Area athletes honored were Mill Valley’s Daniel Reback (receiver, defensive back, returner) and Eudora’s Nicholas Becker (tight end, defensive end).
