Kansas’ Paris Daniels nets track honor

Kansas University senior Paris Daniels was named the National Female Athlete of the Week, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday. Daniels scored a meet-high 23 points in leading her team to its first Big 12 Outdoor Championship over the weekend. Other Jayhawks recognized were 400-meter specialists, junior Diamond Dixon and senior Kyle Clemons, who made honorable-mention lists.

Daniels, from St. Louis, won the 200, placed second in the 100 and ran on the winning 4X100 and 4X400 relays teams at the Big 12 Outdoor.

Dixon and Clemons were named to the Athlete of the Week honorable-mention list. Dixon won the 400, placed fourth in the 200 and ran on both winning relays.

Clemons won the 400 and ran on the winning 4X440-yard relay team.
