Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. The Aquahawks offer a swim lesson program and competitive swim team for all ages. The Aquahawks are coached by professional coaches with weekly practices geared toward a variety of skill levels. Audio-Reader golf: Former Kansas University and professional football standout John Hadl will show his support for Audio-Reader by chairing the fourth annual Audio-Reader Golf Classic for the second year in a row. Trail Hawks race: The Lawrence Trail Hawks will host the fifth annual Shoreline Shuffle 5K Trail Run on Saturday at Clinton Lake’s North Shore Trails. The Shoreline Shuffle begins and ends at the southwest corner of campground one in Clinton Lake State Park. 5K Family Fun Run: Sunflower Elementary’s Marathon Club is having its annual 5K fundraiser at 2 p.m. Sunday. Entry fees: Pre-Registered $12 per runner/$25 maximum for family. Day of race $15 per runner/ $35 maximum for family. Registration begins at 1 p.m. and is at the Clinton Lake Sporting Complex softball fields. We will start there and run around the arboretum/jogging trail. Medals for top three finishers in gender and grade. All participants signed up before April 28 will be guaranteed a backpack. Long Drive: The Time Warner Cable Long Drive Championship will be held at 9 a.m. on May 11 at Eagle Bend driving range. It’s $300 to enter and the field is full at 24 players. After the event there will be a local competition from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $40 per entry. No need to pre-register, just show up. A Long Drive Pro-Am will be held at 4:30 p.m. May 10 at Eagle Bend. Entry includes: nine holes with cart, a long-drive T-shirt, hit on Flightscope ball launch monitor, long drive/closest to the hole contests. Unique format: 4 Man Scramble. Cost is $50 per person/$200 per group.

Boston benefit run: A run to support the relief efforts of the Boston Marathon bombing will be held Saturday in Baldwin. The Run for Boston 5K — put on by Sarah Harris, who ran the Boston Marathon this year, and her husband, Kit — features a 5K race, a one-mile kids run and a one-mile walk. Entry fee is $20, will all proceeds going to One Fund Boston to help people affected by the bombing. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the race to follow at 9. Jayhawk Model Masters: The Jayhawk Model Masters will have a “Free Air Show” from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the model-airplane field below Clinton Dam. There will be a variety of R/C aircraft ranging from a 140″ scale Beech 18 to a turbine-powered jet. Concessions and facilities are on site.

Eagle bend leagues: The Eagle Bend Senior Men’s League will have tee times from 8-9 a.m. Mondays, the men’s league Tuesdays during the day and women’s league starting May 8 with tee times between 5 and 6 p.m. For information, contact Eagle Bend.

LHS tennis camps: Lawrence High tennis camps will be open to all LHS tennis players attending LHS for the 2013-14 school year. The camps will be 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 4-July 18. There also will be a future LHS tennis camp for boys and girls in grades 6-8. The future camp will meet from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on the same dates. Players will work on tennis skills, strategies and group play. Cost for the 13 sessions is $65, or $5 a day.
