40 years ago: Manufacturing plant considers site in Eudora

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 30, 1973:

  • A small manufacturing company was investigating the possibility of building a plant in Eudora. The Chicago Battery Co. had requested a meeting with the City Council and the Eudora Planning Commission, and the council had agreed to hear their plans.
  • Clifford Clark, dean of the KU School of Business since 1968, had decided to leave the post at the end of the current school year to become vice president for academic affairs at the State University of New York at Binghamton.
  • Among the items on the agenda for the upcoming Lawrence City Commission meeting were the consideration of site plans for a Quick-Stop Photo Structure to be located in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, a retail and office building at Iowa and Yale, and an expansion of the KLWN radio station at 31st and Iowa.
