Tecumseh ? Maren Kahler scored two goals, and Free State High opened its girls soccer season Wednesday with a 5-0 victory over Shawnee Heights.

Jessica Ferguson, Maddie Dieker and Tanna Fanshier each scored a goal for the Firebirds, and goaltender Annie Hierl recorded the shutout.

Dieker and Haydn Hutchison had assists for the Firebirds.

FSHS (1-0) will play Tuesday at Shawnee Mission South.
