Conservative groups to host discussion on tax reform

Three conservative groups will host a forum next week at Kansas University focusing on tax overhaul plans being considered in the Kansas Legislature.

“The Economics of Kansas Tax Reform: A Story of Sustained Progress” is being sponsored by the Douglas County Republican Party, the Kansas Sovereignty Coalition and Young Americans for Liberty.

Speakers at the event, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Kansas Union, will include Art Hall, director of the Center for Applied Economics at KU, as well as Dave Trabert and Todd Davidson, both of the Kansas Policy Institute.

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion that will also include Kansas Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan, state budget director Steve Anderson, Senate Ways and Means Committee Chairman Ty Masterson (R-Andover) and Rep. Paul Davis (D-Lawrence.
