Aquahawks openings: The Lawrence Aquahawks swimming team is always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. The Aquahawks offer a swim lesson program and competitive swim team for all ages. The Aquahawks are coached by professional coaches with weekly practices geared toward a variety of skill levels. Girls fast pitch: The registration deadline for Lawrence 8U machine pitch, 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U girls fast pitch is April 1. Cost for 8U machine pitch is $65 per child; equipment will be provided. A coaches meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., April 18 at Holcom Park Rec Center. Scholarships are available at the Community Building 115 W. 11th Street by March 25. Cost for the other divisions is $900 per team, with a maximum of eight teams per league. There is a nonrefundable deposit of $100 to secure a spot in the league, with the remainder due at the coaches meeting at 6:30 p.m., April 16 at Holcom Park Rec center. Girls volleyball clinic: Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is enrolling for its spring girls volleyball clinic. The clinic is open to girls in fourth through eighth grades and will cover the fundamentals, skills and rules needed to better prepare them for school team competition. The clinic will run 9-10:45 a.m. for fourth through sixth grades and 11 a.m-1 p.m. for sixth through eighth grades. The clinic will be held three consecutive Saturdays, April 20 through May 4 at East Lawrence Recreation Center (1245 E. 15th St.). Cost is $50 per participant, which includes a clinic T-shirt. Eagle Bend golf leagues: The Eagle Bend senior men’s golf league will start April 15, with tee times of 8-9 a.m. The men’s league starts April 16, will tee times available anytime during the day.
