Weekend wrap-up: meth, sexual assault, and child porn cases resolved in Douglas and Jefferson county courts

  • A 19-year-old Lawrence man has been sentenced to three years of probation for his part in a Jan. 17 home invasion at an apartment in the 1700 block of West 24th Street. Robert Lee Coleman was sentenced Thursday in Douglas County Court after being found guilty in February of aggravated robbery and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
  • A 26-year-old McLouth man has been found guilty of possession of methamphetamine in connection with a Jan. 11 search warrant at a house in the 600 block of East Lake Street in McLouth. Landon Stevenson was found guilty in Jefferson County Court on March 7th. He is scheduled for sentencing on April 4th at 9:30. Depending on his criminal history, he could face probation or up to 42 months in prison.
  • A 19-year-old former Haskell Indian Nations University student has been sentenced to three years of probation for the assault of a female Haskell student in November. Carlo Gregory Wilson was sentenced in Douglas County Court Friday after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual battery on Jan. 10.
  • A 66-year-old Nortonville man was placed on three years’ intensive supervised probation Friday in Jefferson County District Court after pleading guilty in December to one count of child pornography. Burton K. Tribble could face up to 32 months in prison if he violates his probation terms, according to Jason Belveal, Jefferson County Attorney. An additional charge of child exploitation was dropped as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. Belveal said another Kansas law enforcement agency identified Tribble as a potential possessor of child pornography in 2012, and his office began investigating.
